Kimberley Medical Group is a mixed billing family medical practice established by Dr. Jo Baker and opened in Broome in 2016.

In addition to providing general medical services, our doctors have special interests including women’s health, antenatal care and postnatal care, men’s health, children’s health, Aboriginal health, skin cancer medicine, mental health, travel medicine, preventative health, chronic disease medicine, aviation medicine and palliative care.

We have a practice nurse who offers general practice nursing services including chronic disease management and health promotion, wound care, ECGs, spirometry, immunisations and travel vaccinations, ear syringing and much more.

Our medical records and booking system are fully electronic. Appointments can be made online or by contacting us.

As members of the Broome and wider Kimberley community, the staff at Kimberley Medical Group genuinely care about our patients and are committed to providing them with comprehensive medical care.

For a GP, Broome has a unique environment to provide health care in a remote but beautiful part of Australia. We value our clients, their attitudes, and respect the choices they make in regards to managing their health care needs.

Dr. Jo Baker

Dr. Jo Baker

Lead General Practitioner
Dr Jo has been practising as a General Practitioner (GP) in the Kimberley region since 2012 working in private practice and remote Aboriginal health. She graduated from The University of Notre Dame, Fremantle in 2009 with first class honours and was awarded a number of prizes for her contribution to research in General Practice and Primary Health Care.

She is a qualified examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP) and GP Registrar supervisor. She has a wide range of experience in all areas of management of general practice conditions.
Dr. Kate Tunstill

Dr. Kate Tunstill

General Practitioner
Growing up on a sheep station and being home schooled on Meekatharra School of the Air ignited Kate’s passion for providing culturally appropriate care for those living in rural and remote areas. Dr Kate loves living in the bush, camping, fishing and exploring the Kimberley, and has made a life here in Broome after 3 years working as a GP. She looks forward to developing long-term relationships with patients at KMG.

Areas of special interest include paediatrics, women’s health, sexual health and contraception, Aboriginal health, working with young people, helping people quit smoking and helping patients on their weight loss journey.
Dr. Nathan Luies

Dr. Nathan Luies

Sport Medicine Physician
Dr Nathan is Australia's first Indigenous Sports and Exercise Medicine Doctor. He has previously lived and worked in Broome and loves returning to Broome to work on country and to provide accessible care to the community. He has recent experience in working in elite sport with the West Coast Eagles and WA Cricket. In the past he has worked with Cricket Australian and the Australian Insitute of Sport looking after the Basketball and Para swimming programs.

Areas of interest: Osteoarthritis, Sports injuries, Sports medicine, Tendinopathy, Obesity, Weight loss, Exercise prescription.

Dr. Angie Vico

General Practitioner
Dr Angie has a wealth of experience having been a qualified nurse working in remote areas of Queensland for many years before completing her studies as a Rural Generalist GP. She has worked on the Torres Strait Islands, Saudi Arabia, the Caribbean to name but a few places. She enjoys complex medical cases and is a very thorough and gentle. She looks forward to working with you on your health journey in Broome.

Areas of interest: Tropical Medicine, Indigenous health, Child and adolescent health, Woman's health, Veteran Health.
Katie Knight

Katie Knight

Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Telehealth Only)
Katie is a warm and compassionate individual with a wide breath of expertise and specialist knowledge in area of mental health care which she has dedicated 22years of her nursing career. She has gained her experience working within both metropolitan and rural mental health services all across Australia, including NSW, Queensland, Western Australia, and the Kimberly region. Katie has worked alongside a range of clients with complex mental health needs, including severe psychiatric diagnosis of varying levels of disability and socioeconomic background. She has also worked with people from all across the life span, as well as those from various culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. She is passionate about providing holistic mental health care to support individuals, their families and careers in achieving the best possible outcomes for them.

A mental health GP care plan is not required for a referral.
Tracey Gilchrist

Tracey Gilchrist

Endorsed Midwife
Tracey is a Registered Nurse, Endorsed Midwife and Lactation Consultant from Kimberley Maternity (formerly 'To the Ninth & Beyond) has both lived and worked in the Kimberley region of Western Australia for over a decade. She has over 15 years' experience in pregnancy care and is offering services from the beginning of pregnancy through to 6 weeks post-delivery. Plus lactation consultancy on site or at home.

Tracey can provide antenatal care to mums from when the pregnancy is confirmed up until birth; during this period, she will engage the maternity services at the local healthcare setting. She can also continue to provide support and guidance for up to six weeks after birth. With her international lactation consultancy credential, she is experienced in providing guidance that will help optimise the breastfeeding experience for mums and newborns alike.
